Matlock (circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 31/12/16 - 5.5 Miles - Helen (Molly)

Helen trains her binoculars on Riber Castle, as we both look to make a better fist of this walk then we did on the 13th November.
The Church at Bonsall alongside information board that shows a variety of trails around the local area.
As another walking route is conquered (at only the second time of asking) I march proudly back to Matlock.

Chesterfield (Trans-Pennine Trail) Circular - Derbyshire - 22/12/16 - 10 Miles (approx)

The Christmas Robin theme continues. This time in the grounds of Ringwood Hall.
At least half of this walk is on the Chesterfield Canal, and is my 'go to' walk, when I can't be bothered to travel anywhere.
Totem Pole, and a blank board that magically comes to life with information, when you get within five yards of it.

Chatsworth / Beeley Moor / Carlton Lees (Circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 16/12/16 - 10 Miles

Despite the unseasonably warm weather, Chatsworth is starting to take on the look of Winter.
I passed at least five sites where logging was actively taking place.
Descend at the post to Carlton Lees.
Does that mean Christmas is cancelled then ?
Giant Alien Sausagerollship hovers over Chatsworth House.
However the Reindeer (work with me) provided a festive touch.

Curbar and Baslow (circular) - Derbyshire Peak District - 10/12/16 - 6.5 Miles

I know Poundland is popular at this time of the year, but I always preferred Woolies.
This friendly Robin joined me for coffee at Calver Marshes.
He even switched position so I could get a better shot
Meanwhile the ducks sailed away to Calver Bridge.
Is that one of them there dark satanic mills ?
The flying sausage roll returns; this time on Froggatt.
Quite a mild day for December, as you can see from my rolled up sleeves.
Of course I have to include yet another picture of the Eaglestone.

Hardwick Park (circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 04/12/16 - 4 Miles - Helen (Molly)

After seeing most of the twelve days of Christmas in Hardwick Hall, we had an excellent walk round the park following the Oak and Sculpture trails (not my picture by the way, but I am hoping to get a drone for Christmas)

Chatsworth (circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 18/11/16 - 6.5 Miles

Matlock (circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 13/11/16 - 4 Miles - Helen (Molly)

On our way up from Matlock we met these friendly donkeys.
Riber Castle in the distance.
After losing our way (which cut out about a third of the walk), we trudged back down the Limestone Way, defeated and disappointed (oh dear) !

Grindleford/Burbage Rocks/Longshaw (circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 11/11/16 - 8.5 Miles

Giant kitten tried to hassle me, when I was having my morning coffee at Padley Chapel.
However it shrunk in size when I said it could sit by my rucksack.
Mexican horse finds itself separated from a Californian horse.
My lunch spot atop Higger Tor was buzzed by a low flying sausage roll.
Myself Burbaging along by the rocks.
Welcome to Longshaw Estate.
Wooden Pole tries to point the finger at someone else.

The Monsal trail on a perfect Autumn day.

Once again I struggle to maintain my focus.

Castleton (circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 15/10/16 - 7.75 Miles - Helen (Molly)

As we made our way up Cave Dale, I was confident that my two guides would stop me cocking up this route (as I did on 21st Sept).
What a cracking Autumn day.
The imposing Mam Tor.
As we headed back to Castleton the scenery just got better and better (even if it included Hope Castle).

Saturday, 8 October 2016

Birchen Edge (circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 08/10/16 - 4.25 Miles - Helen (Molly)

Chatsworth / Beeley Moor / Carlton Lees (Circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 06/10/16 - 10 Miles

Same walk as 10th August, with a loop round Beeley Moor thrown in. Sometimes you just want to do the familiar.
Feeling sheepish.
The house of Gold.
A day and a tree, with a real sense of Autumn.
