Hathersage / Stanage Edge (circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 24/08/16 - 10 Miles

Mad dogs and Englishmen ........... but not sheep by the looks of it.
Leaving Hathersage and trekking towards Stanage Edge.
Follow all instructions otherwise you can't come in.
There's a little bridge by a tiny stream .....
Let me point out the heather.
Lunch at High Neb had to be hurried along, before too many insects gathered for the feast.
The clear Summer's day meant you could see for miles from Stanage Edge.
Are you into Rock ?
There's a little bridge by a tiny stream II .............

Beeley / Chatsworth / Baslow (circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 21/08/16 - 6 Miles - Helen (Molly)

Guy who lives in Beeley, feels it's important to leave directions for the binmen.
Dog in search of biscuits, can't find any down by the river.
A ray of light, leads me and the usual suspects all the way to the Hunting Tower.

Kinder Scout from Edale - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 17/08/16 - 8 Miles (approx)

The Old Nags Head pub in Edale; official start of the Pennine Way.
Sticking with the paved path on the left, this seemed a nice easy ascent to the plateau.
However it eventually turned into an all fours scramble.
Once on the plateau (and despite my GPS), I consistently struggled to either find my path, or stay on my path.
For instance having admired this interesting cairn, I then discovered I was heading in the wrong direction (which would not be the last time).
After faffing on wrong paths for an hour at my summit point, I eventually got on track. However the stress over this, detracted from the outstanding scenery and view (such as The Great Ridge in the distance).
Some three hours in, I was confident enough of where I was going to stop and have lunch.
That confidence was ultimately shattered, when I got to a point on my route where I couldn't find the correct path. So although I did approx 8 miles in total, this ended up being only half of the planned route, with the distance made up by constantly retracing paths, or by drifting off onto completely different ones.

Chatsworth / Beeley / Carlton Lees (Circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 10/08/16 - 8.5 Miles

I think the easy to read sign says: 'concessionary path to the hunting tower'
No, it's not the London Swiss Cottage.
The correct path down to Beeley Lodge is about 10 yards further on. This one is good however if you like falling down holes, and being swallowed by Ferns.
Look I've found a path to Edensor.
So that's where we are (the Royal we of course)!
See, you only need one landmark.

Hope to Edale (via Lose Hill, Back Tor and Mam Tor) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 06/08/16 - 6.25 Miles - Helen (Molly)

So we found this sign to Lose Hill.
But then found the climb up there a bit of a slog.
However with Mam Tor in the background we had something to aim for.
The tricky descent from Back Tor.
And the easy ascent to Hollins Cross.
The final leg down to Edale.

Stone Edge to Barlow Common Side to Unstone - (Chesterfield Round Walk: parts 5 and 6) - 03/08/16 - 11.25 Miles

The path from Stonehay Farm down to the river Hipper.
From the top of the Hipper Valley looking into Chesterfield.
My lunch stop (apparently people often have Coffee and biccies here).
The road to Lineacre (is that a film ?).
The reservoir keeps a giant bar of chocolate on standby, for passing walkers.
Monk Wood in Dronfield, shares the Chesterfield Round Walk with the Dronfield Rotary 2000 one.
The sunken tunnel of Holly.
Nearing the end, as Unstone is on the horizon.
The final descent to Unstone.
