Stanton Moor (circular) - Derbyshire Peak District - 13/10/18 - 2 Miles - Helen (Molly and Bella)

Helen in the centre flanked by Molly and (guest dog) Bella.
Lunch, or perhaps not.
An information board about the Nine Ladies.
And in the flesh.
Helen is thinking the same as all of you: why are you having a blog post for what is no more than a short stroll? Well because I wanted to have the first pictures posted from my new camera - See.

Curbar and Baslow (circular) - Derbyshire Peak District - 29/09/18 - 6.5 Miles - Helen

Helen sets forth.
For once I come out good in a photo.
We met these two redheads near the Eaglestone.

Millthorpe / Eastern Moor (Circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 15/09/18 - 8 Miles - Helen

Down a bit, round a bit, and back a bit, and you've got it.
Helen stumbles about in the dark as usual.
But she does take pictures like this.

Hathersage / Stanage Edge (Circular) - Derbyshire - 28/06/18 - 9 Miles

Probably the hottest day of the year so far.
View from my lunch stop.
The way off Stanage.

Chatsworth / Carlton Lees (Circular - Reverse Direction) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 21/06/18 - 8.5 Miles

There was an awful lot of sheep about.
I was certainly in need of a decent walk.

Another Place (Crosby Beach) - Sefton - (Liverpool) - 10/06/18 - 1.75 Miles (approx) - Helen

Helen tries to sneak up on one of Antony Gormley's men.
Whilst I patiently explain to one that most people on the beach are required to wear shorts.
Information board stuff.
And still they wait !

Monday, 30 April 2018

Shillito Wood / Ramsley Moor / Big Moor Circular - Derbyshire - 29/04/18 - 5.5 Miles - Helen (Molly)

Is that someone's house ?
The cold and the mud doesn't stop me from striding out.
Helen always loses her head when confronted with a difficult gate latch.
It's that sleepy man with the finger again.

Monday, 9 April 2018

Beeley Moor / Gibbet Moor / Chatsworth (Circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 08/04/18 - 8 Miles - Helen (Molly)

Helen and Molly ready for the off.
I strike another of my jaunty poses.
Heading into Chatsworth by which time Molly was starting to get tired.

Birchen Edge (circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 07/04/18 - 4.25 Miles - Helen (Molly)

Yes you too can do the same route as us (in an anti-clockwise direction). However to follow our exact footsteps you must stay below Birchen Edge, and remember to tread on the dog's paw.

Chatsworth / Carlton Lees (Circular - Reverse Direction) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 29/03/18 - 8.5 Miles

Chatsworth refurbished - well nearly.
Dammit, I must have missed the lambing episode on Countryfile.

Wednesday, 14 March 2018

Chatsworth / Beeley Moor / Gibbet Moor (Circular) - Derbyshire (Peak District) - 14/03/18 - 8.5 Miles

If in doubt, walk Chatsworth.
Follow the fingerpost.
Real men don't look back.
Hoping not to be swept away.

Inverdruie to Loch an Eilein (Return) - Cairgorms (Scotland) - 01/03/18 - 3.5 Miles - Helen

Same start point as 24th Feb, only this time with snow.
An early sighting of the Beast from the East.
The Lily Loch wasn't like this last time.
Polar bear lunch stop, at Loch an Eilein.
Castle on the ice at Loch an Eilein.

Woodland and Riverside from Grantown-on -Spey - Cairngorms (Scotland) - 27/02/18 - 7 Miles - Helen

Helen bravely enters Anagach Wood.
I bravely enter Anagach Wood.
Then we both get scared.
The mountains are always in view.
Having passed the Cromdale Suspension bridge, we then followed the River Spey.
Lots of Pine trees alongside the river.
Approaching the Old Bridge at Speybridge.
I am not saying it was cold or nothing, but it's the first time I have ever seen icicles.

Tuesday, 6 March 2018

Creag a Chalamain and Castle Hill (Circular) - Cairngorms (Scotland) - 25/02/18 - 8 Miles - Helen

Utsi's bridge near the start, where we had to wait for a party of reindeer tourists to finish their lecture.
Sometimes the going was easy.
And sometimes it wasn't.
Although some people do have a tendency to dress over the top !
We reach the summit of Creag a Chalamain.
I decide enough is enough and set off for home.
Helen however takes it lying down.
